| A Concept of Stone Artisan Park |
Having realized need for promoting this important artisan activity, in the State, the Govt.of Gujarat in its new Industrial Policy broughtout in 2003 has envisaged to set up two Stone Artisan Parks, one each at Ambaji (Banaskantha district) and Dhrangadhara (Surendranagar district) so as to enable this artisan – centric activity to achieve still greater heights.
- The intension behind this is to develop the intelligence of small artists and by maintaining their culture, increase their prosperity at national and international level and fast-track industry growth and to ensure orderly and pleasant development.
The concept of Stone Artisan Parks has been conceived with the following objectives:
- To enable the local artisans acquire/enhance their skill levels through systematic training.
- To provide the artisans with costly production facilities under one roof
- to provide marketing and financial support systems to the small artisans to enable them to widen their market reach
- To provide common infrastructures such as : art gallery/museum, exhibition centre etc. for promotion of trade/marketing at national/international levels.
In order to carry this project concept further and with a view to ascertaining the technical feasibility and financial viability of the proposed Parks. The Commissioner of Geology & Mining, Govt. of Gujarat assigned to GITCO the task of undertaking a detailed study of the activity/industry and preparing a comprehensive Project Report for setting up the Stone Artisan Parks at Ambaji and Dhrangadhra, the two prominent centres for this artisan activity in the State
- This Training Institute is been governed under “Swarnim” Gujarat, Commissioner, Geology and Mining, Industries and Miners Departmen
Present Status of Stone Artisan Park
- Construction for Artisan Park is completed.
- Possessions for Park have undertaken.
- Staff members for Park have been appointed.
- Light and water facility has been done.
- Maintenance for security as well garner, sweeper has been appointed through outsourcing for Stone Artisan Park.
- Finalized landscaping, interior, furniture’s layout and its drawing in co-ordination with CEPT.
- Stone Artisan Park’s training module has been set up.
- Stone Artisan Park’s trainees for training are also available.
- Preliminary training session will be for 10-15 days.
- Stipend to the trainees will be provided by Gramin Technology Department.
- As Dhrangdhra and Ambaji Stone Artisan Park is already to start, and has all machineries are available for it.
